Story Workshop
Plan your story on the plot diagram, then write it. Fred coaches every part. Your work saves as you type.
✍️ Now write your story
Write it one part at a time, using your plot diagram. Fred coaches each part.
1Exposition — the beginning
Introduce your protagonist, the setting (place & time), and the big problem (conflict). Show, don't tell — start us right in a moment.
- We meet the main character (through an action or words)
- We see the setting with the senses
- The big problem is clear
2Rising Action — build the problem
Write the events that make the problem bigger and harder (use your RA #1–5). Show your character react and struggle.
- At least two events
- Each one makes the problem worse
- We feel the tension growing
3Climax — the turning point
The biggest, most exciting moment — your protagonist faces the biggest challenge or makes a big choice. Slow down and show it beat by beat.
- The most exciting moment of the whole story
- A big challenge or choice
- Slowed down and shown, not rushed
4Falling Action — settle down
Right after the climax, things start to calm down. Show what happens because of the big moment.
- Shows the results of the climax
- The action begins to slow
5Resolution — how it ends
Solve the conflict and show how things turn out. Let your theme shine — show the big idea, don't just say it.
- The problem is solved
- We see how the characters end up
- The big idea (theme) shows through
