Closing a gap without making it a production
The hardest part of a small gap is admitting it. A child who is a year behind in fractions does not want a tutor arriving at the house, and a strong reader who cannot argue from evidence does not want to be told so. Because every lesson here starts with a worked example, a student can quietly relearn the thing they missed without an audience, and move on when it holds.
On the Texas question, plainly: FlyingMinds is not a STAAR item bank and does not reproduce released state questions. It teaches the skills behind them — comprehension and inference, using evidence, grammar and punctuation, number sense and word problems — and keeps practising them after the test is over, which is where most of the value is.

What parents here tell us they were missing
Not more questions. Families arrive with plenty of practice already: packets, apps, worksheets. What was missing was the teaching in front of the practice, and some way to see which skills were actually solid. Each skill carries a code and a grade, so progress is legible rather than a percentage.
Two things we will not do: promise a score jump, or hand a child questions with no lesson in front of them. Every lesson teaches first, then practises.

Do you have a location in Allen?
No — everything is online, which is why there is no drive and no centre fee. Live classes meet over Zoom, in Central Time.
My child is ahead. Will this just repeat school?
Only if you keep them at their grade. The same skill exists at every grade with harder texts and bigger numbers, so a strong student can work a year or two up in that skill alone.
My child already gets good grades. Is this useful?
Usually yes, and the reason is boredom rather than gaps: strong students can work a grade up in the same skill, since every skill is taught at every grade with harder texts and bigger numbers.
Can two children share one subscription?
Yes. A family account can hold several children, each with their own login and their own progress.
What if we stop?
Cancel from the account page and the billing stops at the end of the month. There is no contract and no cancellation call.
Who teaches the classes?
A classroom teacher with many years and thousands of students behind her, who writes the curriculum on this site herself. Classes are kept small on purpose.
